Tribute To Ladies Of Jazz is Krystyna Durys’ first album in which more than 20 outstending musicians were involved. Krystyna Durys is a Polish singer fascinated with swing, dixieland and bossa nova inspired mainly by the work of the Queen of Jazz Ella Fitzgerald. SCHOLARSHIP HOLDER of the Polish Artists Union “STOART”, Marshal’s Hall of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and Gdańsk City Hall. Winner of the FIRST PRIZE – GOLDEN WASHBOARD at the 44th International Old Jazz Meeting Festival. Winner of the 2nd place in the category of THE NEW HOPE in JAZZ TOP survey. Nominated in the category of THE BEST FEMALE VOCALIST in JAZZ TOP survey. Nominated to The Grand Prix of The Jazz Lovers Association in the category of THE HOPE OF JAZZ LOVERS.
Krystyna began her adventure at the age of 7 being a member of a vocal-dance group and two choirs for a few years. Journeying trough different genres and evolving her singing skills she got interested in jazz standards and swing. Her bigest inspiration are vocalists like Ella Fitgerald, Pattie Austin and Natalie Cole. In 2012 in cooperation with marvolous musicians and friends Krystyna started her own swing quintet. At the beginning of 2016 two outstanding musicians trumpeter and trombonist joined the band. Thanks to the horn section the band gained a broader sound so characteristic for swing era. Band members are: Paweł Hulisz (trumpet/ flugehorn), Marcin Janek (saxophones/ clarinet), Adam Wiśniewski (trombone), Marek Jurski (grand piano, arrangements), Jarosław Stokowski (double bass), Adam Zagrodzki (drums). Arrangers: Artur Jurek, Marek Jurski and Henryk Wieczyński.
Since releasing her first album in 2016 (Tribute To Ladies Of Jazz) Krystyna and her band were proud to present their concert in POLAND, INDONESIA, DENMARK, SWEDEN, CZECH REPUBLIC and SLOVAKIA: Java Jazz Festival (Indonesia), concert for the Nobel Prize Winner – President Lech Wałęsa (Denmark), Hallevik Tradjazz Festival (Sweden), International Jazz Festivala Praha (Czech Republik), Musical Autumn (Slovakia), Osterso Jazz Festival (Bornholm), Olsztyn Philharmonic (Poland), Polish Happy Jazz Fest (Poland), Ladies’ Jazz Festival (Poland), Wieluń Jazz Meetings (Poland).
